Education at Mooted

The Mooted Theatre Co is committed to providing educational services to support and complement our theatrical productions. We believe that our theatre should be rooted in the heart of the communities we serve, and key to this is developing an outreach programme that will enable us to work with the theatregoers and theatre practitioners of tomorrow.

From 2010, every Mooted Theatre Co production will have a workshop programme for schools and colleges running alongside it, reflecting themes and issues raised by the play in performance, as well as the processes involved in actually making the piece of theatre. These can be tailored to suit the needs of particular age groups and circumstances.

In addition, The Mooted Theatre Co can offer bespoke workshops on a wide range of performance practice, from Verse-Speaking when performing Shakespeare to Stanislavski’s system of acting, and from devising new work to directing text-based theatre. We can also provide workshops using drama as a tool to explore a wide range of non-theatre related-subjects.

Mooted’s Artistic Director Mark France is an experienced workshop facilitator who has led workshops with students ranging from 5 years old to adult education. He has also worked extensively for the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival and as a director has worked with the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Harrogate Theatre, Hull Truck and the York Shakespeare Project, as well as his work for Mooted. Working with him to provide our educational programme will be a team of experienced actors and/or directors. All of our staff are CRB checked and we are fully compliant with Safeguarding good practice.
